Name: Braelyn
Gender: Male
Age: 48
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Location: Dalibor Weyr
Craft: Minecraft
Rank: Masterminer
Personality: A man full of ambition and booming voices, Braelyn is very much a miner, and can be dubbed as such even from a distance. He is honest and stern, with a contagious grin and a laugh that—as his son likes to tease—can make dragons flinch from the pure volume of it. He’s an incredibly friendly fellow and approaches every new encounter with a person s an exciting and pleasant thing. On the other hand, should he be wronged he holds a grudge til the ends of the earth.
Braelyn strives for excellence and accepts nothing less, but he is far from a harsh man. More stubborn than a lame herdbeast who refuses to get up, he will not bend his will beneath any force, although he is more than willing to compromise if it benefits all. Although he often comes off as a cheerful, happy man, he can in the blink of an eye become a force to be reckoned with—dangerous and frightening. He is a good fellow to have as an ally, but is deadly as an enemy.
Appearance: Braelyn is a massive fellow, standing at about 6’4” without his ever-present boots and not counting his outrageously messy—even at this age—hair, which together give him about an inch more of height. From a young age he was broad-chested, and he continues to be as such, broad in chest and muscle.
He has unusually dark skin for a miner, but no more than a deep tan as of now. His hair is nearly jet black and kept short, although it goes in every direction no matter what he—or his wife—does to it. His eyes are a rich chocolate brown and as full of laughter as his voice.

History: Braelyn was born by the sea, but proved early on that he and the ocean did not mix. From infancy to a strapping pre-teen he got severely seasick, and the very sight of fish—gutted or no—made him equally ill. As though to further his parents’s frustration on their perfectly-able and yet completely-inable child, he could not for the life of him mend nets and would walk right past berries, tubors, and reeds without even noticing them—he couldn’t even find spiderclaws when they were crawling over his feet. But he was physically able and could lift considerably more than the other children his age, and had an unmistakable way in the kitchen…so long as fish wasn’t being cooked.
Unsurprisingly, Braelyn was sent off as a fosterling the moment someone would accept him. He left at a young age to a nearby mining hold, fostered to the master stationed there. He blossomed in the mines, showing an incredible talent at finding stones and metals others would miss. He excelled at cutting gems and melding metal as well, and it didn’t take long for his fosterer to pass on knowledge of Braelyn’s gift to the Masterminer.
He became an Apprentice in the Minecraft Hall at ten, and became a journeyman at eighteen. Unlike many Journeymen, however, Braelyn never left the Minecraft Hall.
He met his future wife within the walls of the Hall, and a week after becoming a Master at twenty, married the woman he had swooned over for three years. Their first son, Braek, was born three years later after Braelyn had requested to be moved to the very Hold he had first mined at. The boy—born with stark white hair—grew to be as remarkable in the mines as his father, and Braelyn had been filled with pride.
When Braek was six Braelyn was gifted with his daughter, a beautiful girl who was born blind. Less than a month after Lei-Lei’s fourth birthday, when Braek was ten, Leiark and Braelyn had their third and last child, an average boy who looked like a miniature, male version of his mother. Brenn was as sweet as his siblings, but unlike Braek—who was a pushoever—and Lei-Lei—who burst into tears whenever someone got hurt—Brenn had his father’s sturdy eye and an ambitious grin.
Although hers was a difficult life, Lei-Lei soon showed a uniquely determined nature to survive, and at seven accidently Impressed a generous grey Wher named Leisk. The Wher became her eyes, leading her around even as a hatchling, and ever since then Lei-Lei has been claiming that she has been able to see. Whether her eyes are actually seeing or she’s simply seeing through Leisk is difficult to say.
Ever the proud father, Braelyn encouraged Lei-Lei to work harder, and welcomed Leisk not only into the family, but into the house as well. Leiark was less than pleased about this—no one likes cleaning up the mess a blind girl and a baby Wher make when they’re chasing a soot-covered boy and his baby brother through the rooms and sleeping furs—but she too was happy to see her children prosper.
At thirty-eight, Braelyn became one of the younger Masterminers, taking his place at the head of the Minecraft Hall when his old tutor passed away. He brought his wife and children with him…as well as Leisk, who turned out to be quite large for her color and, with Lei-Lei at her heels, causes chaos in the Minecraft Hall to this day. To her father’s dismay, she seems to become less mature by the day, although her brothers and mother find her exuberance delightful.
His eldest son soon left the Hall—forcibly, to Braelyn’s amusement—to train at Harper Hall. According to his embarrassed child’s explanation he was ‘intercepted’ on the way there and ended up Impressing the smallest Bronze Braelyn had ever seen. Although, upon commenting on that fact he promptly found himself bowled over and sat on by a very displeased dragonet who proceeded to lecture him on size for a good ten minutes.
A few years after Braek—no, B’rak—became a dragon rider, Lei-Lei left the Hall as well. Her eyes—metaphorically speaking—were set on Healing, and she set off to Apprentice in the Healer Hall. Braelyn finds it an endless source of amusement that his darling daughter--the bane of his Hall, according to one Master--is now terrorizing another Hall, going so far as to make many teachers teach in the middle of the night. As her letters say, "I'm slowly converting Master Weinnki to fully nocturnal. Leisk says he's already starting to look like a Wher, but I think that's just the sand in his eyes..."
Brenn is the only one of Braelyn’s children left in the Minecraft Hall, and at ten years old, is approaching his second year of Apprenticeship, having been inducted early. He was living there anyways, after all. He’s show to have less promise than his father and oldest brother, but has high hopes nonetheless.
Lei-Lei, now nineteen, is a Journeyman Healer who—if all goes as planned—will transfer to Dalibor Weyr to help the healers stationed there within the next year. Of course, the fact that she’d have a chance to tease her brother if he should ever come in injured has nothing to do with that desired transfer…although Leisk often testifies to the opposite with a smug, draconic-version of a smirk and an incessant swishing of her tail.
As for B’rak, well, he’s still “stuck with that wherry-brained noble of a dragon” and—although he’ll probably deny it—loving every second.
But while Braelyn’s wife has decided to stay home, Braelyn himself is agreeing with his daughter and has come to stay at Dalibor Weyr for a time. If asked why he tells with a smug little smirk, “I’m here to tease my boy, and in a little while, my daughter,” wink, and walk on.
Several turns later, Lei-lei moved onto a new hall. Braelyn moved back to the Smithcrafthall on the Northern Continent when B'rak transferred to Inland Weyr.
