Name: Nevai
Gender: Female
Age: 20
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Location: Western Hold
Rank: Dragon Candidate
Personality: Nevai can be described as a vigorous, determined person. She can often be found with her sleeves rolled up, immersed in some sort of work. She is stubborn when it comes to her ideals (or her father’s ideals) and won’t easily back down from them. It goes without saying that she isn’t easily distracted from her goals.
She likes to meet the world head on and even in the shadow of fear she puts on a brave face and stands her ground even if her legs are shaking beneath her. She holds hard to her holder morals because she doesn’t want to disgrace her family though obviously no one in her family knows how uncontrollable this may be within the Weyrs. She is proud in a respectful way of her family, her abilities, and her holder blood. The respectful part is mostly to the fact that she doesn’t flaunt these attributes and that she will obey a leader’s order willingly for the most part.
She is an organized person with a brilliant mind. As such she likes to be in charge because she is usually very qualified. She acknowledges that there are SOME smarter people and that she can’t go around flippantly trampling the authority of her leaders.
Because she is so morally strait she finds herself looking down on Weyrfolk and she is easily offended. She often feels alone in the world because she tends to send off a repelling vibe (“I don’t need you, I’m strong enough to be on my own”).
Appearance: Nevai isn’t what most would consider a natural beauty but when she puts effort into it she can come off very pretty. Her face is a bit unflattering because it’s a little pinched and she has a larger forehead but she has naturally long, dark lashes that make her hazel eyes one of her greatest assets along with her darker, clear skin.
Her hair is very long, somewhere near the bottom of her lower back. Due to this detail if she leaves her hair loose it curtains around her until she is hopelessly tangled in it. Generally she keeps it half pulled back and forcefully maintained. Her hair is curly and brown but shows a little of the generations of redheads in her family though the color is slowly being strained out by the brunettes.
Nevai has a decent figure though she keeps it well hidden under severely modest clothing. She is fairly tall and well rounded though she has a smidgen of baby fat left on her stomach and cheeks. She walks strait back and chin lifted, clearly not someone to look down on for any reason.
Family: Her mother, Ranae, met her father, Tevain, and shortly after they were married. They were the perfect couple, she was a homely but very dutiful wife and he was a morally strait and dutiful husband. Love wasn’t part of the complex formula of their marriage, just efficiency. They had five children of while Nevai is the last. In order from oldest to youngest, Nevai’s siblings are: Ranin (27), Inae (26), Vanae (24), and Eva (22).
Pets: None.
History: She grew up in a very strict, “breed to succeed” family where nothing less than pure brilliance was enough. They were holders with high morals and a long, respectable family line. She was instructed by her father to hold her moral at all costs and to be proud to come from such a well known family. Her mother taught her everything she could in the ways of running a well oiled family. They believed that dragonriders were respectable for their work on behalf of Pern but that their morals left much to be desired and that the Weyrs needed someone to steer them in a different direction.
Nevai, under much pressure from her successful siblings and her parents, did all she could to be a model holder. She was offered a spot as a Harper scribe apprentice but refused when her father said no (they were too loose and not straightforward enough).
She came to a marriageable age but never really retained any suitors. Disgraced she did all she could to make herself useful in other ways. She became apprenticed to the birthing woman of the hold and learned a bit about healing and such.
Then one day a search rider found her and his dragon took interest in her. Her mother admitted to having a bit of dragonrider blood in her but her father disliked the idea so naturally Nevai refused to go with him to the Weyr. However her father reviewed this opportunity and decided that going to the Weyr would be a good experience for his daughter and that she might one day be able to steer the Weyrs “strait”. So they waited for the day that another search dragon would come…
Dragon Preference: I love greens. But you know what? I don’t really care what color. I’ll take a copper, a white, a yellow, whatever.
