Name: Vadarat (nickname Rat)
Gender: male
Age: 17
Sexuality: Homosexual
Location: Dalibor Weyr
Rank: Dragon Candidate
Personality: Vadarat is the kind of person who can't stand having to stay indoors for too long. He loves nature and he knows how to take care of himself in the wild from growing up in a caravan. He is still learning many of the norms of polite "indoor" culture and sometimes prefers not to follow the rules even if he knows them. He is outgoing and friendly, and usually makes a judgement on a person only after getting to know them. However, he can have difficulty trusting people, and usually does not confide in a person unless he knows them very well.
Vadarat is artistically and musically inclined; if he had been born into different circumstances, he could have been a Harper. He likes to sketch and make simple jewelry using artistic knot tying and trinkets he finds around as charms. He has a good singing voice and can play the pipes, and he loves music and dancing.
Points of interest: He is a master of the esoteric art of knot tying. He is also left handed, and he has a good singing voice. In a tight situation, he also has a talent for picking pockets, but he probably won't try that at the Weyr.
Likes: Music, firelizards, colorful or shiny things, fancy clothes, puzzles, good food, crafts (like folksy crafts, not Crafthall crafts.)
Dislikes: Overly polite situations, people who can't take a joke, tubers
Appearance: Vadarat is medium height, about 5'7, and thin, with a scrawny build. He has dark brown hair that goes to his shoulders. It is choppy and it looks like he cut it himself with a knife. He has angular features and a rather long nose that has a bump on it from when he broke it as a child. His eyes are a bright, vivid green, and one of his best features. He has a surprisingly charming smile.
Family: Varla, mother, trader
Tiran, father, trader
Pets: None
History: Vadarat was born into a family of traders who wandered around Pern selling their handmade crafts and various odd job services. He had an unconventional but happy childhood with two loving parents and a big extended family. His trader caravan was not really endorsed by the Trader Craft Hall, and they sometimes resorted to less than...legal practices to earn marks, but that never bothered Vadarat. He was raised to believe that you just did what you could to survive.
As a child, he was basically allowed to run wild. His best memories are playing with the other caravan children at "Thread and riders." Everyone would try not to be Thread, because it isn't very fun pretending to be a mass of parasite, is it? During one of those times, he tripped and hit his nose one of the wagon wheels. He broke his nose and since they were miles from a Hold, it wasn't set right. Now he has a bump on his nose to remember the day.
When he was older, he was recruited a pickpocket to earn more money for the caravan. He was quite good at it, and didn't have any moral qualms with it either. His teen years were filled with the usual drama, with crushes and betrayals. Rat quickly decided that he preferred boys, and he had no difficulties with it. His family didn't care either, the caravan having quite liberal views.
When expansion began to the Western continent, Vadarat's caravan decided to take their trading there. They settled around Crescent Hold and traded with all the people moving to the Western continent. Vadarat enjoyed living in a new place and exploring. Shortly after Kalith's rising, Rat met a dragonrider during one of the trading expeditions to the Weyr, and he was Searched.
Dragon Preference:
Pinks sound fun, I always enjoy playing Greens, Yellows are adorable, and a Gray or Black would be interesting.
