No one knew when the strange Blue Rider had landed in the Weyrbowl and dropped someone off. No one knew that the new person had slipped off and found their way to the dining halls. And no one knew that the strange person had found some meatrolls and klah to fill their hungry appetite.
No one knew....
Except Lynx. In fact, Lynx had been this new person. She was not the first nor did she think she would be the last. She had already seen some boy get dropped who made his way to the Candidate Barracks. But she did not care much. All she had been worried about was where the sharding dining hall had been. The time it took for her to get pack, get on the back of the dragon whose Rider brought her here, go between, and arrive here took a matter of several hours. And the last meal she had eaten had been breakfast that morning. So it was no surprise she was hungry.
Then again the girl loved to eat. And finding the dining hall was important to her. Without food, she would go crazy. Eating was not an issue with her as active as she was. She loved to jog and climb the rocks of the last Weyr she had lived in. But she was in a new place. And she could not wait to explore this place.
As for how Lynx even got her name was no surprise. The way she acted said it all. She was picky as a feline, but fast and quick as one. She had an incredible sense of balance. But she was mortal and could fall and hurt herself if she was not too careful. And she had earned her nickname from the boys back at her home Hold. But her real name was Laura, but she was not about to tell anyone that. And she preferred to be called Lynx.
Now finished stuffing her mouth with meatrolls, she took the cup of klah and drank her first sips. She had been so hungry that she had not even thought about drinking. But now that she finally had some warm klah in her, whatever coldness of between that had been there was now gone. She could get use to this place as long as the klah stayed fresh and hot. She liked klah strangely. She did not know why.

Riori was bored, again. This seemed to happen wayyy too often for his liking, as Weyrs were supposed to be entertaining! Lively! And all that good stuff. Well, not when you didn't have a dragon... or when you were avoiding chores... and other things like that... there wasn't much else to do, was there? And shards, Riori wasn't going to be caught doing chores if he could help it. So he lazed around the Weyr, bothering random people with his boredom and asking out girls that always seemed to turn him down. Maybe he just wasn't known enough yet.
Candidates were arriving steadily, though there wasn't really anyone that Riori felt particularly interested by. Naturally he'd checked out all the girls anyway, but he was getting bored. Really, he was. Maybe rather than girlfriends he actually needed to get to know someone before asking them out. It might give him a better chance, afterall. Who could tell? Certainly not Riori. He'd given up trying to talk to every single new Candidate that arrived and instead headed over towards the Dining Hall, hoping to snag a few meatrolls or maybe even some klah, if he felt like it.
Changing directions abruptly, the black-haired Candidate briskly made his way towards the Dining Hall, entering without too much of a show and searching out the food right away. Aha! Food! And he was starving. He grabbed a few meatrolls and bit into one curiously; it was pretty good. Good enough for him to grab a bunch more and seek out a table. There was one that seemed empty, but at second glance he noticed a girl sitting there. Well, might as well go introduce himself, hmm? It could be a chance to try out his new policy of befriending girls before actually asking them to go out with him.
"Hey there!" he said cheerfully, swinging into a chair across from the girl. "You new here? I'm Riori, nice to meet you!" he introduced himself and asked her at the same time. Perhaps he could show her around the Weyr or something, Faranth knows he'd wandered it enough to know every crack and crevice by heart. Not to mention all the great hiding places and secret rooms that didn't have much in them but records and such. "So where'd you transfer in from? I'm from Ista," he rambled on, not even giving her a chance to answer the first few question. After he felt he was done talking, he took a few bites of his meatrolls, though didn't shove them in his mouth aggressively. He must show some form of sophistication, right?

"Run! Ram! Where on pern are you two going?" The dancer's voice came far before his flits did, a surprising fact as the two Browns burst on the scene at full-speed, chirping and cheeping merrily as they flew around the room, executing properly messy landings on the very tables with twin bounces.
Breathing heavily, Flaet as well stumbled into the room, giving a sigh of relief as his pair set down placidly, flicking their tails as they snatched up a meatroll each, digging into them with abandon. "I just fed you two..." The boy mumbled out as he gave the pair a quizzical look, then simply abandoned the thought. Run and Ram were unpredictable--he shouldn't try to figure them out.
Sighing, the youth shuffled fully into the room, tucking a bit of his hair behind his ear as he did. Flaet's hair was let down for once, the long black locks draping over his shoulders and into his eyes and giving him an even girlier appearance than normal. Of course, the oversized shirt and his usual dance pants didn't help the situation, although in his defense he'd been literally just dragged out of bed.
Yawning lazily the boy pattered into the room, his bare feet quiet on the floor as he dug into a pocket, pulling out a long strip of navy cloth. His flits were now back in the air and he groaned, watching them sail over and promptly plop down inbetween a girl and a boy, chattering away loudly as though introducing themselves before sitting down to enjoy their pilfered snacks. Flaet followed after them, brushing his fingers through his hair as he let a smile spread onto his face.
"G'day." He chirped as he stood beside the table, grinning lazily, "Sorry about the flits--they're mine. Run and Ram. I'm afraid there's not much I can do about them, they have quite the personalities, you see." He blinked, realizing he'd introduced them but not himself ,and fell into a graceful bow, smiling, "Apologies. My name's Flaet. A pleasure to meet you both."

Lynx looked up at the new boy and smiled at him. She had just arrived after all and was glad to meet someone finally. After all, adventure was not complete without a few friends to go along. Oh course, she would not have much time to introduce herself just yet.
Another boy burst into the scenes, lead in by two chirping Brown Fire Lizards. She at the Fire Lizards and offered a hand to them, wanting to pet one of them and hold it. Just to see what they were like. She did like Fire Lizards. And then she glanced up at their Mine. Baggy shirt and pants. Must have just woken up. It was her lucky day. They were not boys from her Hold. Though Riori had a familar face to her.
"My name is Lynx," she said proudly, flashing both boys smile that seemed very flirty. "I actually just arrived today. I am from Ista Weyr as well. Though Faranth knows that I have tried enough to Impress there. I do like your little friends, Flaet," she said, making a mental note of both og the boy`s names.
Lynx pushed back her brown hair with her free hand and looked down at her plate. She was pretty much finished with her food, and her eyes had been more hungry than her stomach. She offered the rest of the meatrolls, though there were only 5 left, to the Fire Lizards to eat. Her green seemed lively and interested as she turned her face back to the boys, smiling again.

They hadn't had much time alone to "get to know each other", as quite quickly, before the girl had even a chance to answer, fire-lizards had appeared out of no where. Or what seemed like no where, because Riori wasn't really paying attention to much else but his meatrolls. So naturally, he'd nearly jumped out of his chair when the fire-lizards had plopped themselves right down on the table making some weird noise before they started to eat. Riori blinked, staring at the two browns in confusion. Well, they surely belonged to someone. They were... pretty cool to watch, actually. He wished he had some fire-lizards, it seemed like everyone else did, why didn't he?
Anyway, the owner of the two browns approached, and Riori blankly stared at the person for a few minutes. Boy? Girl? Boy? ... girl? No, it was definitely a boy. No wait, a girl. Uh... Riori's expression was blank as he simply stared at Flaet, trying to mentally make sense. He'd known there were, well, not-so-straight people out there, but he'd never met such a girly looking boy or a boyish looking girl. It was just confusing! Couldn't he just pick a gender? Oh, he... maybe it was a boy? Riori had no idea.
He quickly corrected his blank stare with a more friendly smile, lifting his hand in a greeting to the new boy, er, girl... er... nevermind. "It's alright. They're pretty interesting fire-lizards. Great way to start a conversation, right?" he said with a laugh. The boys voice didn't really sound like a girl, so Riori was going to go with boy. Shards... this was confusing. He hoped he hadn't made a fool of himself by staring while he tried to decipher the boy's gender, so he said, "It's nice to meet you too. And you, Lynx. That's an interesting name," he flashed a smile at his fellow Ista Candidate, though he oddly couldn't recognize her. Weird. He'd heard rumors of a lynx around the Weyr once though, but he'd kind of assumed it was an animal. Oops. Better not bring that up.
They both seemed like pretty happy people, which was good. Happy people was very good. Riori always found it hard to be around people constantly in need of cheering up, it simply took a lot out of him. But with happy people, the fun never stopped! Okay, that wasn't completely true, as there were still some pretty boring people out there, but it didn't seem like these were those kinds. Not with their fire-lizards. He couldn't help but think again that it wasn't fair, that boy had two and he had none! But he wasn't going to bring that up. It'd be childish, you know?

"Lynx, huh?" Flaet chirped, grinning as he put the cloth into his mouth, letting it dangle as he gathered up his hair in a smooth ponytail, brushing his fingers skillfully through it to keep it untangles. As quickly as he pulled it up he returned the cloth to one hand while the other held the tail, and tied a lone knot. "An odd name indeed--although certainly nice enough." "I'm glad," He replied after a moment, watching as the greedy flits snatched up the proffered snacks and hoarded them, eating slowly even as they sat on their future meal, chattering away like a pair of budgies. "They can be handfuls, but they're sweet, for the most part."
"I travel," He added as he began to wrap his tail lazily, "Or...I did. I was born by the sea, but after my parents started trading, I apprenticed as a dancer." He gave a half-grin and winked, an expression that was cheerful, rather than flirtatious.
The boy glanced over at Riori but kept his mouth shut, noting automatically that this lad was straight through and through. A shame, really. He was rather cute, and Flaet hadn't found anyone to play around with since he'd gotten here...

Lynx continued to smile in her flirting way. She had not had this much fun in forever. Sure she flirted with some of the other Candidates and men at Ista, but she had never taken any of them seriously. Then again, when he got to know some of them, friendship was better in the end. But where was the risk, the adventure, the enjoyment in life? She was Lynx, a girl who loved to explore and go on adventures.
"A dancer? Interesting. I bet that was fun. I wish I could have seen it. But all my parents wanted to do was turn me into some future man`s wife. I hated it so much! Luckily I was Searched and started the adventure of my life. Of course, there has not been much excitement this past Turn. But I hope this new Weyr can give me some interest," she replied.
Lynx, wild and free spirited, possesing so many traits to that of a feline and the balance that could nearly out match anyone. But she was still human after all. And there have been several times she took risks and hurt herself. But she loved the thrill of having fun. She would try almost anything just so she could say she had done that before.

"Traveling sounds nice," Riori commented, finishing off the meatroll he was eating, "I think I'd like to travel one day. Too bad we're stuck here until we Impress," he commented, shrugging. It wasn't too bad, really, being here. Just boring. There was so much else out there, it'd be nice to travel the world before settling down. But that wasn't the way things worked, and once he Impressed he knew he wouldn't be able to travel too much anyway. A rider's first priority was their Weyr, and while he could easily between anywhere he wanted to go, it just seemed to take the thrill off of it. But regardless, Riori was going to try. That is... if he ever managed to Impress.
Riori looked over Lynx carefully. She sure seemed rather flirty. He wasn't sure if he liked it, the girls he'd always picked had been either shy or just didn't like him, because of how they'd turned him down. Huh. Maybe he'd just gotten used to having his advances thrown back in his face and was losing his touch. No way, that couldn't be! He was a master at this! Just because he'd been turned down a few (read: a lot) times didn't mean anything. He was extremely popular!
Anyway, he flashed a smile of his own at Lynx before looking more seriously at Flaet. "A dancer, huh? Well c'mon, why don't you dance for us?" he offered with an energetic grin. It wasn't like they were talking about anything too interesting, and dancers were to supposed to, uh, entertain and dance! That's what they lived for! But what would Riori know? He wasn't a dancer. "I mean, you don't have to," he quickly added, just to make sure he didn't sound like he was demanding anything. Honesty, Riori himself wouldn't have nearly enough courage to go up and dance in front of random people, or anyone at all really, he was quite awful at it.

"My parents have always been open to everything. They don't mind what I do, who I like," He smirked, glancing at Riori and chuckled, "Or what I'm up to either." He shifted, scooping one of the flits up, lazily petting him as he did."It was nice," He added after a moment, an absent smile on his lips, "We went from Gather to Gather and just...danced. It was perfect." Humming to himself he plopped down on the edge of the table, swinging his legs, "But I'm just as happy to be here, ya know? Who doesn't want a chance to have a partner for life to dance with?"
Flaet laughed at the question, a grin sliding over his face, "Yeah, I could do that. If y'all want." He looked at Run and Ram, sending images to them. The twin flits bolted up into the air, betweening with matching chirps. "If you can wait for someone who can give me a bit of music, it'll be better." He explained with a wink, obviously eager to dance as well, "She's not a harper, but she can keep a beat."

"Yes, please, a dance!" Lynx replied, smiling still, very interested in seeing his dancing. She was up for anything. And someone else was going to show up to help. This should be very interesting. She did not think she would meet so many people in so little time.
She had always been used to being popular. Actually, she was use to people liking her as a friend and a friendly person. Lynx was very rarely ever mean or snapped at others. Then again, if she felt like something was going very wrong, she would use her skills to get her out of the situation. The only time she had ever been frustrated was with her parents. But they wanted to turn her into a lady. She just wanted to be free and have fun.
She watched as the Fire Lizards went between to go get the person. She smiled. This guys seemed nice enough. And they also seemed cute enough. But it also seemed that Flaet was not that interested in her. Riori, on the other hand, was keeping reserved. He was not catching onto her flirts. Or, if he was, he was not allowing himself to be affect. Shards. Even if she did not mind getting into some relationship, she could not help but flirt with those she thought was cute. She would try a little longer with both. If neither of them continued continued to show no interested, she would back off and just be a friend. Besides, sometimes friendship was the best thing one can offer.

To be fully honest, while girls were great, there were just some things that interested him more. Such as traveling. He leaned over the table a little to listen to Flaet's small story about his travels. And other things he'd done. Yeah... this boy certainly wasn't straight, but that didn't really bother him. Which it shouldn't, people were allowed to like whoever they wanted. Yeah... didn't bother him at all.... Anyway, new mental topic: "My parents weren't really strict either. They kinda just let me go with the flow, especially my mom. My dad was a Harper, so when he visited he'd play songs for me," Riori reminisced, thinking about his father. Hmm, he was probably at the harper hall right now.
"That sounds like fun, though... I mean, hah, a dance partner for life is great and that's what I'm here for... but it just feels kind of restrained," he said with a small shrug. Of course he wanted to be a dragonrider! That was what he'd always wanted, it was what he'd grown up around! He hadn't lived in a hold; he'd been born and raised in Ista Weyr and hadn't known life without dragons. They were just something he'd always known, and maybe he should have gone off and become a harper instead. That thought had never really crossed his mind, before....
Anyway, enough about him and his problems, more about Flaet and dancing. Good, he didn't seem put off at all by the request for a dance. Performers did love to perform, afterall. They wouldn't be very good at their job if they didn't. "Sure, I can wait," he responded with a small nod, habitually pulling a lock of his hair out from behind his ears.
Glancing at Lynx, he wondered casually what she was thinking. Her flirts were a bit too subtle for oblivious Riori, who could tell she was trying to tell him something with those smiles of her, but he wasn't really sure what. It felt a bit awkward to try and charm her with Flaet there, and besides, it was rude. He didn't want to seem rude to someone he'd only just met. He also couldn't read Lynx at all, and it confused him. He'd never been very good at reading people and was quite oblivious to begin with, so he kept reserved and didn't try much. Oddly out of character, but he was kind of interested in Flaet's dance. He had been the one who asked to see it, after all.

While Flaet had caught on to those little looks, he kept an air of blissful unawareness, his nature having him sashaying towards men far more than women. Not that he minded girls, he just liked fellows for a reason...reasons that generally speaking, girls couldn't quite manage.
Humming to himself he shifted and took off his shirt, dropping it to the floor as he tied the ends of the legs of his pants, knowing that baggy clothing could be difficult to move in. And while his pants were adjustable enough, the shirt was not. It was a sleep shirt, for goodness sakes. He danced in practically nothing for a reason other than to look tasty, you know.
"Sounds like you're playing by too many rules." The dancer replied with a smug little smirk, lifting his brows suggestively--if jokingly--at the other when he complained about restraints. "Can't enjoy yourself if you don't take a few risks, and some of those risks are little more than 'go to bed at this hour,' 'do this at this time,' 'blahblahblah'."
Waving off the situation he shifted and gave a lazy stretch, working out the muscles that were still trying to nap. As if perfectly on time Run and Ram betweened on the table, barrelling through the dishes--Ram sending a few flying--before coming to a skidding halt at the end of it, looking up at their bonded with matching trills. Flaet looked up as their images flooded his mind, a brow arched as a rider walked into the room instead of the Candidate he'd expected.
The man smirked as he strutted--yes, definitely a strut--towards the other, a small harp in his arms. "I believe your flits were looking for my sister." R'ish chirped, grinning at Flaet--giving the boy a quick, smug lookover--before glancing towards Lynx, and then to Riori, another quick look over in order, "But she's busy right now, and her drum is broken anyways."
The blond winked as he plopped down on the table, propping his head on his hand as he glanced between the group, "I can play for you, if that's what you need." He reached out to Run and Ram, crooning thoughtfully as he tried to ignore the pink head that momentarily poked in through an open window.
Don't take too long, Mine! Gyth's voice came, I want to swim! Of course, Gyth. Just a quick tune. Okay~
"Yeah, that sounds fine." Flaet replied, a grin on his lips as he let his own eyes wander, somehow knowing that this odd rider had come into contact with P'nay recently. Call it a sixth sense. Either that, or call it a gay's intuition. Either way, it didn't matter. Didn't mean the Yellow rider would pop up, and Flaet didn't mind. He'd find other ways to entertain himself!
The boy turned to Lynx and Riori, smiling, "If you two don't mind?"

Lynx watched as Flaet took of his shirt and tied his pants. Then another male entered the room with a Pink dragon popping her head through to window. She backed her smile down toward them. Check off Flaet and the new guy. Apparently they were definately not that interested in her. Oh well, there was still Riori to flirt with.
During the whole process of all this, Lynx scooted herself closer to Riori so she could watch the entertainment. "I know that I don`t mind," Lynx said. Flaet with his shirt off would have looked hot, but it was obvious he had no interest in her. So she figured he could look hot to other guys if he wanted.
She looked over at the Rider who had entered. He had not introduced himself. So, before he could start playing, she gave him a friendly smile. "Hi, don`t think we have been properly introduced. My name is Lynx. And judging from the Pink`s head that just popped in and your riding uniform, I would have to say you are that Pink`s Rider," she said, chuckling lightly, knowing that him being a Rider was a duh. But she was just wanting to be friendly.

Rules? Was he playing by too many rules? Riori thought about what Flaet said before answering. "Maybe you're right! I guess I haven't been taking enough risks! I should totally take some more!" he exclaimed, banging his fists on the table in resolve. Yeah! More risks! He was gonna go... gonna... go... jump off a huge rock in the Weyrbowl! No, that was lame. He was uh, gonna climb all the way to the top of the Weyr? That was lame too. Jeez... risks in a Weyr, what could he possibly do? Riori was going to have to think on this. He was missing a few obvious "risks" he could take, but in all his oblivious-ness, he failed to realize.
Well, Riori didn't have much time to think or comment on his lack of risks in his life when a rider strutted towards them. Hmm. Strutting. That was risky! He could go around... no that was dumb. Anyway, he watched patiently as Flaet talked with this new rider. Yes, he was a rider, Riori could tell from his shoulder knots because he was just that smart. He blinked in surprise as the Pink dragon poked her head through the window. She'd startled him, but he tried not to show it. So, this was the guy's dragon? Interesting, a Pinkrider. He didn't think much else about it after that.
Anyway, apparently this guy wasn't who Flaet had been looking for, but he was apparently musical as well. Well, Riori certainly didn't mind. "Of course I don't mind! It'll still be fun," he said with a cheerful smile. He really shouldn't be anticipating this as much as he was, it was just a dance. But he was sure it was to be good, Flaet definitely looked like someone who would be a very good dancer. This new rider guy didn't strike him as very musical, but Riori guessed he was.
As Lynx scooted closer, he felt a little awkward, but tried not to show it. She was flirting with him, he could tell. It almost made him uncomfortable that she was making the "first move", and it felt like an insult to his manliness. Which it wasn't, and it was most likely a compliment rather than an insult. Maybe he just... wasn't in the mood. Flaet shirtless wasn't doing much for him either, which of course it wouldn't, as he wasn't interested in guys. No, really. But he smiled pleasantly at Lynx, commenting, "This is sure to be good."

R'ish gave a smooth smile to Lynx, moving into a bow with a nod, "Indeed, I am a rider." He winked, grinning softly, "R'ish of Pink Gyth." He turned his attentiont to Riori, smirk subtly growing, "Its a pleasure to meet you both--you too, little Flaet." Chuckling he lifted his harp, meeting eyes with Flaet. "Anything in particular?"
"Something recognizable," Flaet replied, Run and Ram on his shoulders as he straighted, falling into a neutral position to indicate readiness, "And with an increasing pace--that's best for warm-ups." R'ish nodded and closed his eyes, skillfully plucking a few cords before, locking eyes with Flaet for one more instant, beginning.
It was instantly easy to tell why R'ish had managed to become a Journeyman Harper with only a single type of instrument as a skill, as his fingers were graceful and his movements smooth enough to make the harp sing with a soft, sweet voice not unlike a young girl's singing.
Flaet smiled and closed his own eyes, moving in almost slow motion as he swayed with the tune, telling a story with his arms and his feet as they brushed against the floor. The tune picked up slightly, a stronger voice taking control and leading the music, and Flaet picked up his pace, matching the familiar tune beat by beat.
Again it changed and became a high trill only to stop suddenly, R'ish smirking smugly when Flaet hit the spot on a dime, one foot on the ground, another upraised, and both arms perfectly still in there welcoming stance.
One..two...three....four.....the harp's voice sung like a dragon's bugle, crying out with triumphant abandon before charging forwards in a chase--a Flight. Flaet seemed to fly with them, his spins and outstretched arms like draconic attempts at captures, dashed with a flick of his ponytail and a sudden flip or backwheel.
The song's end was approaching as its pace continued to pick up, desperation, need, want, lust drawn like water from the instrument's strings, filling the room with insight to a dragon and rider's mind during the key moments of their life, and Flaet projected it perfectly, mimicking the Queen and her chasers without a misstep. Up he leaped, twisting his body almost unnatureally in a sideways barrel-roll, catching himself an instant before slamming into the ground, a hand bracing against the floor and propelling him in a different direction, toes tapping down and arms outstretched as he continued to move backwards, eyes open and as fierce and determined as a Suitor blocking his Queen's way.
The harp sang higher in pitch and Flaet folded into a backflip, standing on one hand as the song suddenly slowed, his body swaying as he lowered himself to the ground, giving a laugh as he dropped fully to the floor and R'ish's song ended. "You're a clever fellow!" Flaet chirped, breathing heavily as he put his arm over his eyes, Run and Ram returning to sit on his chest, "You knew that was a piece for two." "Both in music and in dance." R'ish replied with a wicked grin, setting his harp on his lap and rubbing at his hands uncomfortably. It was a hard piece for the Queen and her Suitors to play, it was incredibly hard for just a single player.
Grinning Flaet turned to Riori and Lynx, chuckling, "I'd bow, but I'm a bit out of shape, apparently. If you don't mind, I'll just lay here for a moment."

Lynx watched Flaet as the music began. She watched the boy begin in a rythmic dance, eyes watching the ground he was dancing so she would not miss a touch of his foot to ground. And soon, she fell into a trance. Her eyes stared at the boy`s feet, watching them as they twisted, turned, leaped, and danced. But it wasn`t the boy`s dance that held her. It was the music. How beautiful. She loved the sound of it. It was like flying.
She heard the music swell and decrease. It was lovely. She just wanted to jump up and start dancing to the sound of the music. It had something to it. Like it was only one part of many. Her body seemed to sway, the want to dance rising in her. But she could not dance for the life of her. As she seemed to sway to the music, she moved slightly closer to Riori.
The music began to come to an end. No, please do not end, she wanted to scream. This is beautiful, this is lovely, this is something I wish I could live in. The dancing was marvelous, the song gorgeous. Two things that, luckily, lived together in harmony and peace. Why couldn`t she have been born with an ability to sing or dance or play an instument. Maybe she did, but never had truly found it since all her parents had been concerned about was turning her into a future wife.
"That was beautiful," Lynx said, closing her eyes. "All of it. The dancing, the music, it was like a trance to me. Like it was some great lover holding me in its arms. I thank you for giving me an oppotunity to hear and watch such a wonderful piece," she said, opening her eyes and smiling gratefully.

Riori smirked back at R'ish. When in Rome, right? Except not really, because it was just a smirk. "Nice to meet you too," he said with a half-wave of his hand. He hadn't actually introduced himself, oops. Lynx had, he should have just tacked his name on to the end of hers! Oh well, too late now. He'd make sure to tell the Pinkrider his name when the little dance-thing was over. Speaking of which, it seemed Flaet was about to start.
Wow, he was really good. They both were. Riori was captivated by both the music and Flaet's dancing. It was like nothing he'd ever seen or heard before, and he'd been to a few shows his father put on. He almost felt guilty for thinking these two were better than his own father, but the truth was that they were. It was like they'd practiced. It must be amazing to be able to do something like that on the spot and for an audience. Riori was sure he wouldn't be able to do it... for one, he probably didn't even have enough stamina to dance like that. And his fingers were clumsy. He just wasn't really made out to be a Harper. A shame, really.
And then the dance began to end. He glanced quickly at Lynx, noticing that she seemed completely captivated by the music as well. Anyway, this dance felt like a Flight, though without the usual... er, feelings that came with it. Maybe there could be feelings if he'd been... er, you know, interested in boys. But he wasn't! He liked girls! But this wasn't the time to question himself, it was the time to sit back and enjoy. The dance was beautiful and so was the music. It made him wish he had enough talent or even the courage to perform something like that. But he couldn't, so all that was left for him to do was appreciate and watch. He could be a good audience!
At the end he clapped, much less calm and smooth than Lynx was, and far more energetic. "That was amazing!" he said with a large grin, "Yeah," he nodded at Lynx's comment, "it was all really well-performed. Beautiful, even!" That wasn't a word he threw around often, and it almost embarassed him to say it. It just seemed so girly. But the performance had deserved it, so he'd leave it at that! Oh, yeah. "By the way, I'm Riori," he directed to R'ish, "Sorry, forgot to say earlier," he said with a small laugh, mostly at himself. There, he felt better now.

"The pleasure is ours." R'ish replied, smiling at the girl softly as he tilted his head, observing her quietly, "I may be a rider, but I was a Harper first, and believe me, there is nothing that is more important to us than an audience." "He's right." Flaet chirped from his sprawled out position, shifting to recline on his side, his head propped up on one hand and his free hand resting on his hip in a way that showed off his bare chest and long legs well, although whether he did it on purpose or not was a mystery.
R'ish rose, chucking, and slid over to Flaet, offering a hand. The boy gave a tired sigh and reached up, taking the hand and allowing himself to be pulled up. Back on his feet the dancer sashayed his way over to Riori, giving a tired, smug smirk as he draped an arm around the other's shoulder in a 'friendly' manner.
"Belated introductions, hm?" the blackette chirped, grinning wickedly as R'ish rolled his eyes, bowing. "Lovely to meet you, Rirori." He crooned, winking as he put a hand on his hip, eying the twin Browns that suddenly alighted on his shoulder warily. "If either of you bite my beads, I'll let Gyth bite you." he warned cheerfully, to the displeasure of the flits, who immediately decided that Lynx would be their new perch.
"I don't mean to be rude," R'ish continued, picking up his harp, "But if you no longer need me, I need to get going. Gyth would like an oiling, and I daresay she deserves one." He moved to walk out of the room, giving a suggestive smile to the boys and a fond one to Lynx, "I'll see you around, kiddos~"

Lynx chuckled at the interactions between Flaet and R`ish. R`ish was definately entertaining person to watch and he seemed very nice. And Flaet was the same way too. Lynx caught the smiles that R`ish had flashed in the boy`s direction. Well, he was doing the same thing that she had been trying to do, except it had seemed that no was even remotely interested in her like that.
She looked at the two Fire Lizard that had decided to maker her their perch. She reached up and patted both of them, loving the fact that they had chosen HER to perch on. She really did like Fire Lizards. Loved them in fact, but she she had none. So whenever she had an opportunity like this, she would try to make the best of it. She barely looked at Riori from the corner of her eyes. He was interesting too. A little quiet, but he had energy if the music had proved anything. She was still debating whether to keep up her flirty antics or give up and let boys be boys. After all, if Riori had no interest, she was sure there may be some male who would be.

Riori rubbed the back of his head a little embarassedly. He'd hoped that neither would comment on his lack of introductions at the start, but unfortunately this proved to not be true. Oh well, it wasn't that bad. So he'd forgotten... he'd made it up to R'ish, at least! "Um, well, yeah. Sorry," he appologized quickly with a sort of nervous laughing, pulling his bangs back with one hand and letting then letting them drop. Oh well, it wasn't like anyone really cared that much about introductions anyway. He was obsessing over nothing.
Well this R'ish fellow wasn't straight, Riori was able to confirm that. It made him feel a bit awkward, but he didn't mind and simply smiled back, lifting his hand in a sort of half-wave goodbye. "Okay, see you around," he said with a small nod. He felt vaguely jealous of R'ish for actually having a dragon, but dismissed those feelings as petty and simply smiled. A Pink though... Riori wasn't sure what he'd do if he Impressed a female dragon. That would mean something about himself that he wasn't going to admit, ever. But his dragon could just admit it for him! ... yeah, no, he wouldn't be able to deal with a female dragon. As interesting and fun he found girls, he'd much prefer to chase them rather than BE one. ... if... that made any sense, because it made perfect sense in the boy's strange mind.
As the two flitters touched down on Lynx's shoulders when R'ish decided to leave, he looked over at them curiously. "Seems like they like you," he said obviously, flashing her a flirty smile, if only to prove to himself that he could still do it. Maybe it was just easier to flirt in a group with friends backing him up, like at Ista. But he didn't have that here, so he was going to have to make due. It wasn't that hard, really....
Not wanting Flaet to feel left out, he glanced back at the other boy and kind of smiled, "So where'd you learn to dance like that? I mean, I know you traveled and stuff, but was it hard to learn?" he questioned, attempting to keep a conversation going rather than have them fall into awkward silence. Because awkward silence was, you know, awkward. And Riori didn't want anything to appear awkward. Because it wasn't.

The two flits gave chirping sounds of approval, leaning their heads into the caresses. It wasn't often that the two little devils got attention from anyone other than Flaet, too many people had learned of their trouble-making habits and didn't want a thing to do with them. Not that they could blame them--Run and Ram prided themselves on being absolutely devious when the time came.
But for now, they just enjoyed the attention, crooning playfully as their flicked their tails in time.
Flaet smiled, pleased to see the twins enjoying themselves, and rested a hand on his hip, glancing at Riori with a smug little smirk as he tilted his head and slid over. "I learned pretty much the same way as a harper learns to harp and a weaver learns to weave--from a master dancer. He taught me from the ground up, and then transferred me to another master when he retired." The dancer grinned and snagged one of the boy's hands, smiling, "I can teach you, if you'd like. Something simple."

Lynx was glad the Fire Lizards enjoyed the scratching. She loved Fire Lizards. She did not care if they were mischevious or anything, so love the little critters. She almost hoped that she could get one eventually. That and a dragon. She wanted both. And she could only dream about. But she had to remind herself that having a dragon was not just playing and games, there was real work behind it. And she would have to work hard when the time came. But she was not too worried about the work. She usually was a hard worker when it came down to it.
And there, from Riori, was a smile. Not just any smile, but a flirty one. Her smile towards him increased. So maybe there was some interest there. This renewed her vigor to keep trying. At the end of this, the could possibly hang back and talk, get to know one another. And possibly increase the interest that may be there. She kind of hoped so. The boy had come from the same Weyr as she did before moving to DW. so they had at least one common interest.
She glanced back up at Flaet when he mentioned how he learned to dance. And then blink when he grabbed Riori`s arm to show him something. Lynx nearly giggled, but instead a small "heh" came out of her mouth in a sign that she found this interesting. "Come on, Riori. Try a little dance. I will be watching. And so wil Flaet of course. So your secret is safe with us," she said with a wink.

Oh, Faranth... dancing?! Riori couldn't dance! And it was embarassing to admit, since he was the son of a harper and all. He was just kind of clumsy, and didn't like that side of him to show. He liked to think he was actually very graceful. And he was... when he wasn't trying to dance. It was his secret weakness! He liked to watch others dance, but he certainly couldn't do it himself. Perhaps he should have picked up an instrument or something, that way he'd have an excuse not to dance.... It wasn't like he was a very good singer, either.
He kind of laughed a little, as if Flaet were joking. "Well... it's not like I haven't danced before," he said, trying to think up a good excuse. Something told him there wasn't a good enough excuse and even if he did say that he was absolutely pathetic at dancing they'd probably cheer him on anyway. It wasn't like there was too much harm in it, right? It was just dancing... and it wasn't like there was anyone around to see his failure. Except Flaet and Lynx, that is. And he kinda liked both of them (as friends) and didn't want to embarass himself in front of people he'd only just met.
Ah, it didn't REALLY matter. It could be fun, too! Learning to actually control his feet would be great, it'd be another way to charm the girls! Not that it would be that easy, he knew, but he might as well try. So after a moment, he stood up. "But, sure. It could be fun," he said with a grin, and glanced at Lynx. "Why don't you join us? It'll be more fun than watching," he invited her. Riori wasn't sure of Flaet wanted to dance with him alone or something, but Riori was certainly NOT ready for that, so inviting Lynx to join them felt like a good idea.

"That a boy!" Flaet chirped, immediately snatching the other hand. He winked and Lynx and guided Riori into a simple waltz, efficiently directing the boy's feet with subtle movements of his own.
"Riori's right." The dancer added after a moment, seemingly pleased with the easy pace as he grinned at Lynx, beckonning her over, "Watching is no fun at all!" He suddenly twisted Riori into a spin, actually lifting the boy into the air before setting him down in a dip, grinning wickedly down at him before pulling him back to his feet and giving a lazy bow
The teen turned his attention to Lynx and arched a brow, smirking, "Do you know how to dance?"

Lynx watched the boys for a bit before Riori called out to her to join them. She was a little surprised that Riori had actually asked her. She had been wondering if he had noticed her flirts and advances. Maybe he had? But she was still not too sure with the way the other guy, Flaet, was being. She could easily tell that Flaet was trying to flirt back with Riori. She was a flirty girl and she could easily tell when someone else was flirting as well. Ah well, what is done is done. She smiled as she stood up, taking up Riori`s offer to dance. "You sure it would not be too much company?" she asked, smiling at both boys. "I can just watch. I am fine with that."
Then she looked at Flaet who asked her if she knew how to dance. She turned shy for a second. She knew how to dance a little, but not as elaborate as a full dance. And definately not as great as Falet`s earlier dance. She neither nodded nor did she shake her head. "I only know a little. Maybe just a few steps. That is it," she replied. In honesty, when she was able to get away from her parents and she was not hanging out with the guys, then she would run off and dance in the wind, imagining that as music.
