I don’t even know the meaning of living
I don’t even known the will to survive
Come to think of it, whom was I loved by?

Z’len kept the door to his new weyr open; it was almost as though he felt that if he closed it, he’d be swallowed up into the depths of between much like Par’us had. Did he do the right thing when he dropped the man’s body between so he could join his Green?
He was not sure, especially since the ring he took seemed to burn his skin whenever he decided to look at it. It was painful to look at—it felt funny resting on the middle finger of his right hand, but he still wore it anyway. Was he stupid? Was there a problem with him?
Once again, Z’len wasn’t sure. Leviath, who lay in a nice comfy spot on his couch, cooed. Z’lenMine, you are too hard on yourself. He understood that he needed to be encouraging, but how could he do so when he could not remember what was causing His’ pain? He tried and tried to remember, but it was all a foggy haze. Vaguely, he remembered the silhouette of a Green—or was it Cyan?—and that of a man—the dragon’s rider, perhaps? Leviath, since he could not remember no matter how hard he tried, stopped trying to worry about it.
Z’len fought the urge to sigh; dragons were lucky in that they had short memories. Why did he have to remember the event so freshly? Sure, it only happened a short sevenday ago, but it already felt like ages since he lost Par’us. The past sevenday had been so hard; so hard that it was suggested by a fellow rider that he transfer to Dalibor. He took the suggestion and jumped on it, leaving as soon as everything was clear.
He hovered over a drawer as he contemplated his decision. Was he in the right? Was it smart? Would he be okay here? “Leviath, what do you think?” he whispered.
That we are here, safe and sound. The dragon replied. After a pause, he added, and that we should go swimming. Would that cheer His’ up? No, it probably wouldn’t. Maybe meeting someone new would?
Z'len closed the drawer, sighing as he did so. He hoped that he wasn't making a mistake by coming here. If he was, Leviath did not seem to mind. "We can go swimming later."
Promise? Leviath asked His. Swimming would be fun, even if his rider sat and watched. Really, the Blue would prefer if the man got into the water with him.
"Promise," was the choked word that escaped from his lips. He climbed onto the bed and lay on his back. "I'm sure that we'll like it here."
Of course we will, Leviath said. Had His doubted that?
