Personality:
He is very smart and could almost be considered a genius. His problem is because no one knows what he's thinking, no one can see his potential. He does not talk a lot and will only say short sentences. If you can get him to talk a lot, consider yourself a friend. If you get him to laugh, then you're a really close friend to him and he'll protect you the rest of his life. He is actually kind and not really agressive what-so-ever. In fact, at times, he can be that calming presence in the room.
Recently, his mood has been changing a lot. When he wakes up, he is very cheerful (mentally) and spends the morning mentally showering praises upon his dragon and Fire Lizard. But, as the day progresses, his mood gets darker and darker to the point that he will get dinner and retreat to his weyr for the rest of the night. The reason behind this depressive mood is the fact that he is in love with Avalle, the girl who Impressed Gold Callistath at Kalith`s first clutch and future Jr. Weyrwoman. And O`ris Impressed a Cyan, a female dragon. And though he loves his dragon to death, reality is Rhyolith with never Fly Callistath and the two will always be separated by two end of the spectrum. But, due to the fact he rarely speaks, nobody can tell that O`ris has begun to change. But this change may or may not be permanent.
Appearance:
He has dark blonde hair that is short all around his head. He works a lot, so he needs to be able to see. He also has icy blue eyes that anyone can drown in (just like this guy in my high school). Thin figured, but he has some muscle from years of work and experience. Like any guy, he is not too particular with what he wears. He does have old miner outfits that belonged to his dad that he wears at times, sometimes confusing people who do not realize that he is a Candidate. And has very little fat on him due to his fast matabolism.

History:
Okeris is the oldest child in a family of two children born at a small Hold that is part of Inland Hold. He and his father were very close to one another. His father was a miner that worked hard to support his family. Of course, being a miner had its dangers, but this did not concern the family. They all loved each other very much.
Okeris was very surprise when he was 5 Turns that his mother had given birth to his little sister. He had not expected this to happen. He always thought he would be an only child just like his cousin. But he parents told him that they would always love him the same. And Okeris soon fell in love with his little sister which he vowed to watch over and protect.
Okeris had two cousins that he was very close to. They would usually hang out often and play together until a family tragedy happen, and O`ris would not get to see his cousins often (their mother had died). He would also hang out the sons of the other miners, usually throwing rocks into streams or killing insects. But he was always there for his little sister, making sure she was happy all the time.
Their family happiness soon came to an end when Okeris` father died when Okeris was only 9 Turns, leaving him, his mother, and little sister on their own. While they did have family in the hold, Okeris knew they could not survive on family support alone. But Okeris was not as interested in Mining like his father. So he took smithery, learning how to heat and bend metal into items.
Okeris always showed a passion for learning, reading as many scrolls as he could get his hands on. He would also go out exploring, trying to apply everything that he learned. HE could have also been a Harper if given the chance. It was when he was out walking at 13 Turns that he found a small clutch of Fire Lizard eggs. He knew it had to be a Green clutch becauseall the eggs were cold except one. He took this egg and it Hatched into a little Green which he aptly named Lira.
Also when he was 12 Turns, a Brown Rider showed up to his hold and Searched his first cousin who later Impressed a Green at a Weyr. But when he was 13, a Green Rider showed up again at his Hold. The Green dragon was amused by Lira, who lead the dragon to Okeris. The Green, after looking at other boys and girls, said that Okeris was the best choice to take with them.
Okeris came face to face with a dilemma. He still worried about his family, but his last cousin and the rest of his family said they would help. Besides, with his sister now 9 Turns, she was now learning how to be a Baker and was already selling things for marks. So, without any regret, he went with the Rider.
At the Weyr, which was called Igen Weyr, he met many people but none that he could connect with. And when on the sands, some of the bigger and snootier boys would push him away or into a group of Greens which would squeal and scatter as they saw him coming. Okeris became tired of these antics and wanted a change Weyrs. He was not sure if he would Impress at a new Weyr, but he wanted to go somewhere that he would be accepted. And he swore that even if he did not Impress that he would continue to work at the new Weyr until the end of his days.
So packing up and requesting a transfer to a new Weyr, they happily accepted his wishes and a Green Rider took him to DW. This Green Rider was the same Rider who had Searched him. The Rider, a guy, said that DW was the best choice to come to since it was new and full of appotunities. Okeris was very happy with what he heard and with his decision. But he was now 17 Turns and feared that he would never Impress as he got older.
The day that Copper Queen Kalith`s Clutch Hatched, Okeris barely made it on time to the Sands. He made it just shortly after an Iron had Hatched onto the Sands. He watched as dragon made Impressions to their Mines and went off happily to eat. Everytime a Green stepped onto the Sands, Lira would get very jealous and protective of her Mine. But, Lira did not need to be jealous any further. Suddenly, a Cyan who had been waiting a long time and looking at the Candidates, stopped in front of Okeris. Impression was instantly made. And Okeris, now O`ris, had Impressed to Cyan Rhyolith.
But, at the height of this Impression, O`ris came to realize that he was in love with Avalle (see personality info). Due to the fact he Impressed a female dragon of low rank, and she a Queen, he became a dour kind of person. Nobody realized this change as he was always quiet. But his dark moods began to take over his thoughts, worrying and making Rhyloith and Lira fear for O`ris health and safety. Because he would not confide in anyone else, he pent it up where it has become a shadow inside him.
Eventually, with Rhyolith and Lira`s convincing, O`ris opened up to Avalle and told her how he felt. He was pleased to find that she returned the feelings. They both vowed to not let rank define them or who they were together and that they would care for one another. Rhyolith and Callistath would become best friends, just like Yulari and Lira.
After suffering two Turns of Weyrlinghood, O`ris finally graduated and became a full-fledged Rider. He was excited about this and was finally glad that he could fully open up to Avalle, starting to do things that he had wanted to do with her for a long time, like holding hands.

Lira is a bit over protective of O`ris, not liking the idea of any other Green around O`ris. She also does not like to see her Mine sad or upset, always coming to cheer him up whenever she feels him feeling down. She is a sweetheart, though, and does not mind making friends. In fact, Lira`s best friend is Yulari, Avalle`s female Yellow Fire Lizard. Yulari and Lira can be seen constantly hanging out together.
Appearance:
Lira is a typical Green in color, very solid is coloring all over her hide. She does tend to be lighter colored on the nose, but it is not very noticable. Lira thinks she is very beautiful, though not the most beautiful. But, she thinks she is the perfect Green for O`ris.

She is the largest Cyan on Pern right now, coming at 31 feet!
Dragon Personality:
Rhyolith is a little different than your average Cyan dragon. Instead of prancing around and day-dreaming like most Cyans, she actually takes things rather seriously. She is very determined and hard working, not afraid to take on a challenge. She has a strong will and mind, so she it can be hard to change her mind. Not really very flirty, she likes to make friends and like to talk with other dragons.
Dragon Appearance:
She is a deep cyan color, more like a teal color if anything. Her coloration is a little darker under her wing sails, which is noticable when she has her wings spread out. She is, unfortionately, a little vein about her color and takes deep pride in her color.

Rhyolith was one of several Cyans that had Hatched at Kalith`s first clutch. Unlike her other sisters who were playing and day dreaming, she immediately set out to work looking for her Rider. There were several factors that she was looking for in her mine as she passed down the row of boys. She was determined to show that Cyans were greats dragons and were very useful, and she needed a Rider that had potential. When she got to Okeris, it did not take very long for her to pronounce that she had found her Rider. She instantly loved him, and he loved her.
