It occurs to me that the last big wher hatching is coming up in a month and a half and I have a miner to convince into Candidacy. So if you have any wher-related people you'd like to interact with Tuss, please let me know! You are not required to have them walk up and be like "GET A WHER ITS AWESOME" or anything hammy like that...I'm just trying to steer him toward the culture and hopefully he will take to it.

Non-wher-related people are also completely allowed, especially Crafters and Olds.

NOTICE: HARVEY'S PILLIE FIND

Halventh wants another pillie. He thinks he has a good idea of where some are about to hatch. Two other dragons (and/or whers) may join him in this crusade. If you do not own any dragons/whers and still want a pillie, you may post a human.

Halventh's Criteria of Entry:
1) Bring him something.* [Describe what your dragon/wher brought.]
2) Tell Halventh what you think of him. [Answer this ICly from your dragon's/wher's perspective.]
3) Explain why you want a pillie. [Same as 2.]

*NOTICE: Even if you do not get to go, your tribute is forfeit! Do not offer things extremely valuable to you, ex. your rider/handler.

Deep blue in color, it was shot through and speckled with white and what appeared to be gold flecks. This is a Halventhstone, yes... it is... it looks like Halventh.... but it is not Halventh, because Halventh is a good dragon, and this is a pretty stone... yes....

2. Halventh is Halventh... yes... he is... and there is only one of him, yes... that is a good thing, because I do not know if I want another Halventh... no... 3. Wenth craned her neck a little. Slugabed is lonely, yes... he is... he needs a friend a pillie friend, yes... he does... AylinaPretty is not sure what to do for him, no... she's not... he will not tell her what he needs, but I think I know... yes... he needs a friend to share his big bowl with and have dinner with... yes... because I can't stand on the bottom of the lake and eat fish with him, no... I can't... and AylinaPretty can't either... no...[/i] A long bit of silence. ...AylinaPretty is still nervous with pillies... yes... she is, another pillie will help her not be, yes... it will.[/i]

1. Orisk plops down a half-eaten wherry at Halventh’s feet. It’s obviously been chewed on quite a lot, but there might still be some meat left on it somewhere. Maybe. Is good present, yes? Orisk catch himself, just for big speckle-belly. Of course, chew first make sure good and dead, HAHAHA.[/color] He sets his two-toed paw down heavily on it a few times, patting the most definitely good and dead wherry. It sort of squelches. Orisk sample meat too, make sure is good. Only best for big one. You eat, yes? Good wherry, yum.[/color]

2. What Orisk think big blue lumpy one?[/color] The wher peers up at Halventh critically. Wings very big. No good for climb. Very sad—creature no climb, creature no good. He dropped what he had brought with him, a gold colored scarf wrapped around a rock for weight, a task that his rider had done for convenience. I asked T'vonMine what was a good thing I can give to you, and he gave me this! He said he doesn't use it much anymore, so you can have it! You could have L'xon tie it on your tail, or on Lexy! It looks good on you, too! he picked up the scarf and draped it on Halventh's leg for a comparison. And you can have the rock, too if you want! But that's not meant to be a part of the gift.

2: Your hide must be naturally good-looking, because no amount of oil could get it looking like that! I'm getting jealous! But a little oil never hurt anybody, either. And besides your looks, I'm sure you know how to have a good time. Why else would you have a pillie find? Whoever you choose to go with you is going to have an awesome trip! He paused to yawn, then went on. You are a really strong dragon, as well! You're very muscled, and proportioned really good, too. Sometimes I wonder if there's a bronze hiding in that body of yours. Which leaves me wondering why all the ladies aren't dropping from the sky for you. Moruluth looked upward, as if there would be one fall in at that moment.

3:Well, who doesn't want a pillie? Even Day'ar likes pillies! And one can never have too many pillies! So, I was thinking I could find one for T'vonMine. Maybe one that can keep Greedo from taking other people's things. He's getting bad about that again. And they are so cute! I just want to take them all and give them to everyone so no one will not have a pillie friend and everyone can be happy! And no one should not be happy. But I think I would be able to take good care of a pillie. It wouldn't be too hard to do, and I think that I will be quite good at pillie care. Maybe you can give me a few tips, too! Teach me what you know about taking care of Lexy so I'll know what to do!

Being the Candidatemaster's dragon, Weslieth heard pretty much everything through the grapevine sooner or later. Okay, okay, so there were some things that he didn't hear, but nobody should tell him that, because he was very happy and proud of himself over how he heard loads of things! And sooner rather than later, the news reached his ears that Halventh wanted to go on an expedition to find pillies. This sounded like precisely the sort of thing Weslieth wanted to do, and so he hatched a very cunning plan.

One afternoon while Jazz was teaching a lesson to the candidates, the pudgy yellow slipped away and brought Halventh a tribute. Halventh! It is very good to see you! Congratulations on winning Agrippith's flight! I hope she has a clutch, a very splendid healthy clutch! Then you could join us in the sires club.[/i] He paused. There isn't really a sires club, but maybe there should be, because then we could...talk about how our eggs are doing in weyrlinghood. We have some very good candidates right now![/i]

Oh, but that isn't why I came. I mean, we can talk about that, but first, this is for you![/i] The larger yellow dropped a dark blue, dragon-sized hat on Halventh's head at a sexy angle, and prodded it with his claws until the holes fit his headknobs. He admired the effect. You look wonderful! Of course, you cannot wear this during Threadfall, but I thought when you and yours receive awards for being amazing, it would be very nice. I know you're going to win awards, even awards that don't really exist yet, because I've seen your maneuvers and I know you're very talented! And nobody else could be as smart as you. I've wanted a pillie for such a long time and I never thought we could just...go and find some...like firelizards. But you know all about them.[/i]

Weslieth looked round, then leaned forward conspiratorially. Even though this in no way affected anyone's ability to overhear their telepathic conversation. It just seemed like the thing to do. Jazz-my-love got hurt at the wher hatching, it was very sad and painful! She's feeling better now, but it made me so sad to know she was in bed all that time and I was too big to be with her, and we don't even have a whersport for her to cuddle. A pillie is the perfect pet, they take care of themselves when she's ever so busy, but then there they are when you want them, right? I would love to get a Lexy and give it to my Jazz, it would be a fantastic surprise![/i]

Halventh wriggles in place as Ablath bestows her gift, and barely hears anything she says!

Halventh immediately chooses Wenth! Or as immediately as he can, what with all her sluggishness in getting around to the point.

Halventh gently pushes Orisk and his tribute far away, even while Orisk is still talking at him. He then decides this is not distant enough, and picks up Orisk, flies him to a cave near the Rim, deposits him there, then flies back.

Halventh strikes several poses while Moruluth talks, practically salivating over himself. He appears confused at the mention of Lexy caretaking, searches around himself and eventually extracts the gray pillie from between a couple of his tailridges. He sets her on the ground. She looks a little dried out, and dazed. She might have been there for a while.

Halventh's eyes roll up to the brim of the enormous hat he has been gifted with by Weslieth. He struts around with it on, looks at himself in the lakewater, then bounces back over to the yellow at the mention of his GRANDEST VICTORY. He listens for a bit, starting to lean his head to one side till the yellow begins to whisper. Then his eyes grow large and whirl quickly at the tale of Jazz' pain.

Halventh considers the remaining dragons: Ablath, Moruluth and Weslieth. It doesn't take long, and he flings himself over by Wenth, and Ablath. I like kisses, he chirps. I will be parents with you.

He does hand over Lexy to Weslieth as a loan till Jazz collects her own pet of some sort. Moruluth receives the dark blue dragon-hat, though it's a bit tighter on him.

Halventh himself requires no trappings at all to look .

I think Nara -still- owes Q'sis a song, she's avoided him as best she could since their Hatching. Could be wrong though, idk.

I was thinking mostly Tuss/Tusk and Pel/Pesk? Or Q'sis/Pel, since Pel's a former trader. L'xon and Nara is another option on the table.

Tuss and Pel sounds pretty cool beans to me. If you want to start, you can assume Tuss/Tusk are practice patrolling/hiding from Lyrnn in the lower tunnels of the Wherhandlers' Quarters.

Also, anyone who would like to visit L'xon (and is not in quarantine) or be a healer and poke at him is free to do so in this thread. : )

NOTICE: HARVEY'S FLIT FIND

SO! Sometime after the next Hatching (I am not sure when since it depends on the plot which I don't know about/other hatchings/etc), there will be a flit find by Harvey. This is similar to Harvey's Pillie Find (see this post and subsequent posts). Up to three (3) other dragons/whers may join him in the flit find, and non-Weyrlings/Wherlings are preferred but you may still submit Weyrlings/Wherlings and something may be worked out. Humans with NO bonded partners can submit their own application. If you want to submit for someone who is currently a Candidate, I recommend you wait till after the upcoming Hatching!

You can submit multiple dragons/whers for consideration, but only one will be chosen per player.

Some Additional Considerations
A) Since I do not yet have a date set for the flit find thread, entries are currently open indefinitely. It will probably close by the end of May though.
B) Unlike pillies, flits need to Impress right away. That means your dragon/wher either needs consent from their human OR they need to trick their human into coming along.
C) If your dragon/wher is not interested in a flit but your human is, you can have the human try to convince their bonded to show up on their behalf.
D) Refer to the pillie find link and scroll down if you are still confused as to how the applications work!

I think we should have a thread where Q is returning from unidentified business at Crescent and lands in the Bowl so he can walk to the dining hall for nourishment AND THEN Iroh intercepts him and lets him know that she's ~on~to~him~ and demands eggbits etc.

If you can start it, it would be greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaat. Just assume he's just landed and is trotting along to the hall.

Definitely. If you would like to start, I suggest picking a chore they can do together and start Rellan on it. Ghols will show up soon enough!

Alternately, they could be at the Dining Hall, or even at the Hatching Sands getting some off-hours ogling in. :D Ghols is fairly knowledgeable about Weyrs so it would be a good chance to pick her brain if for some reason the Weyrwoman or CMs seemed inadequate/too scary.

Is Tuss a former miner?

Tussbuul is still a Master Miner, though the duties he does for the Hall are sort of token reports about local minerals/etc. He was not removed from the Hall due to political problems with doing so. Due to his status, he and Tusk live over in a crafter's suite on the west side of the Weyr (which is also conveniently close to his primary patrol area).

So while his primary responsibility is always to the Alphahandler, he still does some work for the Minehall on the side.

Hmm, it would be fun to have Rellan and Ghols looking at the eggs. Since Rellan was holdbred, even with one rider parent he'd not be as knowledgeable as a fully weyrbred kid. So he can totally ask Ghols about stuff.
