Hello, my name is Bre.
I'm you're Sr. Weyrwoman. I'm a DRoP addict who is apparently over the Weyr limit but someone neglected to mention that before I ended up in all these Weyrs. ^^ I manage just find and love every minute of it. Dalibor is the creation that sprouted from me having a ton of color ides, an interesting idea for a way to run a forum, and the basic idea for a DRoP plot. From there, I got some help from some friends and, ta da, so this lovely forum was born.
I could be described as a little bit eccentric and computer obsessed but I like the way I live. I ride and train horses. I run track; I'm a sprinter. Reading and writing are my ichor; I've written an entire novel and I'm probably younger then you think (or at least that's what the pattern is.) I can be stubborn and I never back down when it comes to an argument, which might not be for the best sometimes but it is who I am. I'm smart, supposedly.
Now what about you?

'Ello. I'm Lan. (yes... like the acronym for Local Area Network... but I'm not that, sorry)
I'm a rather strange, shifty sort of character that is female, but finds males more enjoyable to roleplay. I dunno... writing for a female just bugs me for some reason, unless I have a really good idea.
Umm... what else?... I'm typically a poem or play writer (the most straight, short-story-ish prose I write is in roleplaying) and I've had three of my plays performed and directed them in the past, and I'm currently working on number four. I play in the orchestra for my school's musicals (will be my fifth time in a couple of months), practice a martial art called Kuk Sool Won, and I am the co-administrator on two sites. Whoo!
I'm quite the perfectionist, I love old or strange words that nobody else uses, I often use more British slang than even British people do, am generally easy-going about most things, I have a strange group of friends that are on the same geeky level as I am (and I set the bar pretty high, between Calculus, Latin, Band, Doctor Who, Maple Story, and of course Dragonriders of Pern), and I have a boyfriend with whom I have a somewhat backward relationship with, but it's all good and we're such geeks that no one else would probably be able to stand us. xD
And now I've rambled too much... another little quirk of mine that only occurs when there is a keyboard beneath my fingers. o.o' [/blockquote]

I can't believe that I forgot to mention that I play the cello in my first post. That is just ridiculous - I spend hours of my life practicing Drummer (my cello) even when I'm not in orchestra or at lessons. I feel ashamed . . .
OMG - DOCTOR WHO! You're officially the perfect person, joining the ranks of Demyx (another of my friends). NEW SEASON TIME! I'M SO HAPPY! Except, I'm a big fan of David Tennant, not just in his role as the Doctor but in general and I love the way he plays the part so like fifth, and he's going. Oh well, I'm sure they'll get someone good.
And I can ramble to sometimes. ^^ You couldn't have tried economy of words more in this application though? XD

A cello named Drummer. That's fantastic. I play the clarinet and the baritone sax, named Daisy. My clarinet doesn't have a name, though. I just say that she's been with me for so long that we've gone beyond names. <3 (don't judge me... I love my clarinet enough to put less-than-three for her!)
I love David Tennant too! He's just so... aw, crap. There's no word to sum him up. He's just a whole bloody ton of brilliance rolled up in Scottish packaging. However, I'm sad to say I hadn't been following the last season as closely as the others *is ashamed*. My boyfriend has them all on his computer, though... so I might try to get him to burn me a dvd sometime in the future. ^^
Heh heh... sorry about that... again... x.x'
Any further applications will probably be significantly shorter, considering that I nearly broke my fingers off typing that entire thing. But the character was driving me crazy... I just HAD to write his entire history out. He wanted me to. And, of course, being a slave to my characters' whims and the random case of divine inspiration, I always end up writing until the sleep-depriving urge goes away. C'lin's character was actually keeping me up at night! =(
But... yeah... as I said... further applications will likely be significantly shorter. Likely under 3000 words. =P [/blockquote]

The latest season is epic - I love, love, love the ending personally, despite not hating Donna (I actually like her) like some people seem to do. I hate Martha. I mean, Freema is cool but I find the actual character annoying. *shrug* You should watch the season quick! One of the episodes is really creepy the first time you watch it though. Not as bad as The Empty Child which I can only sit through the creepiness factor because of Captain Jack. John Barrowman is awesome.
Oh, only under 3,000 words. x.x I probably shouldn't be talking though; Fajra's application is going to be probably almost as long as yours. I'm in love with her personality and copper's are one of my favorite colors. I do have a personal love for reds, coppers, yellows, and purples. They're just my favorite ideas, though I do like all the ideas I used for the colors. And I am a fan of non-canon colors - if that isn't apparent in the fact I made eight for this site.

Yeah, I heard it was... I saw, like, the first half of it. And I haven't had a chance to see the second half. It's torture. =(
I only hated Donna at first. When she got her own season, though, she seemed kinda epic (or, at least in the few episodes I've seen of that season). I also hated Martha. Always blubbering about being in love with the Doctor all the time... it was bloody ridiculous. I wanted to smack her a couple of times, and by that I mean drop her out of a fast-moving TARDIS. xP
Lol... that was meant to be facetious. And I've noticed your love of non-canon colors. They're wonderfully written, by the way.

The ending of the ending (I guess that's how to say it) is really, really epic. Donna is designed to be epic, I'm pretty sure. She's a regular English girl with a big future. ^^ And I can't say anything else or I'll ruin it for you. >.> FINISH THE SEASON, NAAAAAOOOOOWWWW! 'cause I need someone to talk to about it and all my other friends are to lame to like classic SciFi television. Thankfully, they do like comics.
*pets them* And they're just the start. *insert evil laughter here* I'm glad to see that everyone likes them. Kila told me that she likes them too. Of course, Kila is also off being busy with her silly job because she needs money for important stuff. And I'm sick. *pouts* I'm mixing working on an essay with approving characters (e.i Nim) and working on my character. Overall, I'm wishing I could can the essay part.

Well, jobs are important. I get to start work again on Saturday, which is going to be uber-cool. I only work the tax seasons as a paper shredder. It's dull work, but it's eight bucks an hour so I'm not complaining.
I'll finish it when I get a chance. I'm starting school again now after winter break, though, and with that I have a couple of plays I'm involved in plus a job, so I don't know when I'll get a chance to do that. =(
Being sick is not cool at all. And having an essay to write is even less cool... unless it's a crazy rad topic, then it outranks being sick.
EDIT: Wait.... they're... just the start... the start of what? o.o' *is somewhat frightened and excited at the same time* [/blockquote]

Allo, my name is Kila!
For the month of January I have committed myself to an intense class that is dedicated to learning about and practicing Zazen. I was absent this past weekend because we were swept off to NY to spend that time in an actual Buddhist monastery. We worked with the monks and students, practiced with them, and lived with them. It was an amazing experience. During the week, however, my class meets several times a day and I will thus be popping on and off Dalibor at weird hours.
Zen aside, theatre is the love of my life. I have rehearsal for about two hours every night in addition to class. I write, direct, stage manage, design, do stagecraft, and most of all, act. My current plan is to double major in Theatre and English and to minor in French. J'aime a parle francais! C'est chouette! Despite being a huge reader and writer, my spelling has never been the best, so bear with me. I am, however, enchanted with new and interesting words. Dictionary.com is pretty close to being my bible. I love to roleplay, but I haven't had the time or inclination to do anything other than DRoP for quite some time.
And I am SO excited to be part of a Weyr that in just beginning instead of dying (like all my other ones)!

Dude.... that's fantastic. I would love to go spend time in a Buddhist monastery. In fact, I have the dream of going and chilling with the Tibetan monks sometime after I graduate. I just think it would be so enlightening and so... calming.
Another theatre geek! *is awestruck by her luck* I've been involved in some sort of play or musical theatre production since I was in 7th grade. I love it. I don't generally act (although I have, and sung, a handful of times), but I prefer to be behind the scenes.
I'm also excited because this is my first DRoP site! ^^

I would love to go chill with the Tibetans. More demons, more color, more show, same principles. It's very calming, Lan. You're removed enough from the rest of the world that it's this special little place where you feel like you can do anything you want. And everyone is so nice.
And what luck indeed! We have so much in common already XD I'm an actress all the way, but I love the behind the scenes people- nothing would happen without you guys! I'm absolutely crazy about musicals, they are sososo much fun! Favorites?
Really? First DRoP site? I've been addicted for ages, but all of my Weyrs never fully got into the swing of things, died, or the people were straight up rude and slighted me. There's a lot of talent here in Dalibor already with just its few members, but once we get more and things come together you'll be amazed how complex and wonderful it is.
Oh, and I did want to tell you how impressed I was by your bios! They're very lengthy so I haven't had time to read them all the way through, but that's a good sign in itself. Bre, I'm dying to see Fajra's profile. I know you won't disappoint me ^_^

Bre only speaks German. . . I do not know the German word for 'generation' though. Oh, and you don't really need to know any of that. XD
SSW will never, ever actually die, Kila. Kaya won't let it. I won't let it. Reky and I shall RP Xaleni and Folan to the end of time if necessary. XD So no need to worry. Anyway, if you get more time, I can set up with some fine Weyrs. As I've explained to Lan, I'm very well connected in the world of DRoP (I've been to a lot of places) - that mixes knowing the deadglows as well as the fantastic people.
Tell my life to take a hike if you want to see it anytime soon. I'm shooting for finishing it for this weekend since school has decided to be nasty and come after me with a pitchfork for end of the quarter/end of the semester. The only good thing I can say is that at least the assignment in social studies is fun. Anything explained by my teacher as "a Loyalist and a Patriot walk into a tavern" probably has some potential. Unfortunately, I'm disliking that essay with a passion.

I certainly hope SSW never dies, I just have to learn to accept it's slow pace, which is rather difficult since all of my very favorite characters are there. If I ever have time for another Weyr I may take you up on that, Bre, though I do know of one or two as well I could look into if my schedule clears up. For now, however, I'm going to pour all my love and attention into building up this one. I am stubbornly loyal to my Weyr, shard it! And best of luck with all of your schoolwork- I more than know the feeling.

Favorites? Hmm... Well, out of the musicals that I've played in the orchestra for, I'd have to say my favorite has been Guys and Dolls. The music was fun, but not completely ridiculous and impossible, and the storyline was amusing. Right now we're in the process of doing Fiddler on the Roof... which has, like, uber-clarinet parts in it that make me wince. o.o'
Yesh. It is my first. As I've already told Bre, I must have been looking into the wrong circles, because I've been searching for one for ages and haven't been able to find any that aren't completely dead.
Heh heh, I think I nearly killed Bre by making her read them, though. I feel rather bad about it. But when I get an idea for a character I just can't stop writing, and I've had several totally constructed characters in my head since I started searching for a DRoP site. I don't think I'll ever expand beyond Nim or C'lin, though.
"a Loyalist and a Patriot walk into a tavern"... Oh god, that's snazzy. xD [/blockquote]

Our school play organization did Guys and Dolls last year; they did Music Man this year. Of course, I can't sing and have no interest in standing up on a stage to be a part of such a thing. I'm no someone who likes to play solos; I'm not someone who likes to be a part of that. I play the cello to be with my friends, have fun, and get better.
You didn't really kill me - I have credit to my name of my capabilities to write and deal with quantities like that. Wait until you see the posts I write for flights and hatchings which tend to be my high muse times. In general, I tend to put more effort into posts over applications most of the time but I've decided to really work on my applications for here. But only two characters? I think we might wiggle one or two more out of you over time. ^^ Just two won't be enough eventually.
The history assignment is really fun. I've decided to do it as a creative writing sort of thing rather than just a script. ^^ I'm not going to give the two characters names and sort of portray them as archetypes for both side of the war. I wanted something sort of epic; I'm doing this more for myself then just for the assignment and the grade.

Hmm... now I'm wondering who I'm up against. Would you have any links to these posts? I'm interested in reading them.

- Well, we are going to need some of those sort of riders soon enough (Kalith's maiden flight)! I don't have this one posted anywhere else right now but I have it saved so I'll just post it here for you to read. And in case Kila wonders about this, I'll just cover that yes, R'lek is Relek, a.k.a. handler of Relsk at SSW. He's actually generally a Kingrider; he's Sr. Weyrleader at two places (he won his flight, lucky dog.) -
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He was strong. He was brave. He was large. He was bigger than any competitor, big enough to rival a Queen or two in size. Of course, none of those Queens were this beautiful Queen. He could not make her choose him, not that he was so desperate or unmoral as to try something as that. Oh, who was he kidding? He really was desperate, but he had sense and knew showing disrespect would earn him no points nor any attention from Lioleth. Pushing just to edge out Okoth every chance he could get as the beautiful golden Queen veered high up into the sky, he kept up easily enough. To challenge the other King now, he added his own voice over the Cerulean's strumming bugle, another deep and clear ringing call that hung out into the air as he wasted breath in it. Beautiful sounds would not win them this, for they could hardly be compared to the shimmering elegance of the magnificent Lioleth. There was so much more to prove.
Still keeping an iron-handed grip on his emotions, R'lek joined J'den outside of Kris's weyr, keeping a distance from the other rider. Why? Because some deep instinct in him held the urge to prove himself as his dragon did, in physical strength and physical victory. Yet, he was so far above that; he would never resort to that. He would not be lying to go forward and say that. It was in his eyes, the fact that still held the good natured human mixed with sheer force of will, determination, and insight that they classically did in their amber depths. Upon his approach, he had caught the words that his rival had spoken to Kris and the snippet of his song but the other rider since lapsed into unintelligible humming. He pause and cleared his throat without much of a thought, mind half with his dragon as he flew to catch his golden prize. Despite not wanting to fall to instincts, he could not resist the need to prove himself above J'den in some way for the occasion.
A song, a real song, would prove that he could sing just as well and still more clearly than the other rider. What song? One befitting the occasion of course. His mind, that was beginning to become taxed by his firm resolve to be strategic and not be confused with emotion, fell back onto the old days of his harper trainer. So many of the songs were of dragons, but what of one of flying and of this feeling that he felt in his chest? Just one came to mind and he closed his eyes gently as he sung out the first words into the air and the sky far away in his mind.
"Rise in glory, Bronze and gold, Dive entwined, Enhance the hold!"
Like that of his dragon, his voice was strong and clear, deep but so pure. He laid his feelings bare. J'den was too simple in what he felt - too pure, too exact. That was not what this was; that was not what these moments of utter freedom driven by the wants of their dragon were. How could one even be sure of what one was feeling at that time? Still, he felt confident enough in where he was and confident in saying what he felt now, hidden behind the words that he sung. For these moments, he cared deeply for her and he remembered that he'd had a fancy or two before senses had been clouded by this event. Yes, he tried to see his everything he had thought before but he couldn't be sure, just couldn't.
"Count three months and more, And five heated weeks, A day of glory and In a month, who seeks?"
To simple, to easy! Again, Borath roared as he mimicked the same half closed winged move that Okoth was performing as he tumbled downward in a dive after Lioleth. His voice had always been like that of his rider. From the moment of his hatching and even before that, they had been meant for each other, so why should it not? They were one - two bodies, one soul, one heart, and one mind. Years of training had shown them how to perfect an ability they had always had. They worked together, to be better and to be what had to be. In their blood and in their bones, they strove for the same thing - an unattainable beauty just beyond there fingers and the power to make the difference they needed to make. Though he did not say it, he would gladly crash into the ground for this chance, for His and himself. What was the point in saying simple words? He would prove it in actions and deeds, stuff made of stronger things. If she wanted a pretty song, he could offer that but would that make a strong and united Weyr? Would that build a better Pern or a better future for their children? That was what he and His wanted, wanted to do with the help of her and Hers.
"A strand of silver, In the sky, With heat, all quickens And all time fly!"
His voice remained strong till he cut off the final note of the song and then he fell utterly silent. R'lek opened his eyes. Despite raging emotions in him, he remained effortlessly calm and effortlessly unswayed in any way. Judgment had not arrived yet; he was left, hanging by his connection to his dragon in the empty void of not knowing how everything was going to turn out. Odd, how so much rested on an event that was a mere blip in the space of time itself. Perhaps he only saw it as important because he felt so connected to it but he would like to believe that things like this were important in the larger scheme of things. He smiled to himself at such thoughts. No matter what the situation, he could always see the light at the end of the tunnel, the reason to laugh amongst a thousand somber faces.
Snapping his wings wide, Borath wheeled around to the left after Lioleth just a moment after she did. The pressure of the air against his spread wings sent him sailing after her and the sharp tension of the motion dissolved with the ease. It was probably for the best; he was beginning to feel the drag of the flight in his wings and limbs. The adrenaline that pounded through his veins with his ichor kept much of such silly thing as tiredness and exhaustion far from his mind but that did not replace the fact they would come. At some point, he would not be able to fly any longer, but that was still far enough not to worry him. He had every intention of flying that though if it became necessary; he would not be the one who left the flight. He would not drop out. He was here until Lioleth chose him or Okoth. There were no other options; it could not be that hard. He strove to prove himself worthy to her and show her all that he could be, did he not? Therefore, if Okoth was doing likewise, the descision would be easy. The logic on his analysis of himself and the situation could come only from his rider he vaguely realized somewhere in the realms of their mind. They were one, interlinked; ones thoughts were the other for almost all respects. Perhaps the only difference in them was what they saw as the eye of their affections and where they stood. Even there bodies sometimes felt as one, beginning to feel the tinges of aches from the effort of striving.
When she sang, he listened to her, head tilting ever so slightly to the side as he flew on after her. All the others were singing - Okoth and J'den, his R'lek, and the beautiful Lioleth. In one bold move, he added his own voice to the singing Queen, below her own but in tune with it as it shifted just as the wind so often did. See, he could sing, just as well as Okoth. He could sing with her and he would happily sing with her to the end of time. He had to win. Not that he believed himself so great as to truly be worthy, as he believed that neither he nor Okoth had any real right to win than either of them, but he had to win. He had to win for His and for everything that they believed. This was beyond petty needs and wants, beyond the selfishness of wanting something. He thought she was beautiful; he though she was amazing. He thought she was graceful and elegant and perfect in all her golden glory. She deserved every compliment he could ever give her. Yet that wasn't why he flew. She deserved his attention regardless of reasons anyway.
Outside Kris's weyr, R'lek was smiling to himself, heart pounding in his chest and beads of sweat running down the back of his neck onto his back. His crazy, admirable, philosophical Bronze, how odd a pair the were, not because they were different since they were far too similar, but because of just how interesting they were. Able to laugh off anything, always willing to encourage others, and always looking out for what was best for all those around them, but they were laying so much on the line for this and were dedicated enough to kill themselves trying to reach what they wanted. They didn't have a rope for when it came to the end of the line but they were going to be the ones who fell the farthest and saw the most. Feeling silent amongst the other voices, heard in his mind and all around and especially with his dragon seeing, his mind sought out the words to another song and without thinking he begin to sing again, more wavering this time than before.
"Who will, Can."
His resolving and will against staying firmly in control was beginning to weaken as Borath grew more determined than ever. Still, he balled his hands into fist and dug his nails into the palms of his. He grew louder, just as determined as his dragon. They had a purpose! Focus on the goal! This was important, so so important to everyone, to them.
"Who tries, Does."
The Bronze's voice now mixed the song of Lioleth and the tune that his rider sang out, so that he could sing in unison together. He knew music but he knew so much more too! He could show her, if she allowed him too, show her everything that he had seen and knew. Listen, listen, listen to me, part of him wanted to roar out into the sky where he flew.
"Who loves, lives!"
With the last words, the Kingrider practically yelled it out, a challenge to J'den and Okoth and a call to Kris. He cared for her; he was heartless monster. She had to see, she had to see . . . In the sky, Borath roared now. Together, they repeated the last verse, voices intertwined in two places as they spoke without a falter, perfectly together as always:
/"Who loves, lives!"/

Amazing. I haven't read all of it yet, but what I have read I am quite impressed with. ^^ I like the way you interwove a song into it, it really emphasizes the piece.
Well... I think I've just started an app for an ironrider. x.x See what you've done to me? You're terrible (but in a good way).
Obviously... the character won't come into play until I get the posts to acquire him... but I feel I might as well write him before the idea leaves.

Wow, Bre. I love reading your writing XD
Oh yeah, Lan! You must have more than two eventually! How will the Weyr be supplied with candidates otherwise? You wouldn't want to miss out on hatching- they an indescribably fun.
Hehe, funny you should mention the Bronze and Iron riders- I've been in the middle of writing an application for a character for a week that will end up as one of those two. The personality of an Iron matches him obscenely perfectly, but he's older and I don't know if the mutation has been around for that long. I love him already... he's definitely going to bring a different swing to things...
Call me old-fashioned, but Phantom is my all time favorite musical. School House Rock Live and Once Upon A Mattress were fun to perform in. I recently read M Butterfly, a straight play, and fell absolutely head over heals for it.
Geez am I rusty in html, how can I get my font smaller? I hate it this size when i'm RPing...

Aw, thanks guys. ^^ I was being all angsty when I actually wrote it and refused to believe LX and Birdy (er, more DRoP friends) when they told me that it was good. In my head a voice kept screaming: "IT ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH, YOU'RE GOING TO LOOOOOSSSSSEEE, TRY HARDER!" 'cause flights make me just a little competitive. Now I can appreciate it more.
YAY - Kings for Kalith to eat, I mean, Kings to chase Kalith. ^^ I have several characters ideas for who to bring in here - a journeywoman harper and a flirty whiterider - after Fajra. However, my mom decided to hide my netbook, which has what I've done with my app, so I have to wait until she gives it back (she's crazy, don't ask, I didn't really do anything; I'm usually the most mature member of my family which isn't a good thing since my brother is two and a half years older than me and everything).
Kila, there's a tag inference above the smilies. After you type your post, select all of it. In the first row of it, near the end, there's a button with an 'A' and a vertical line with arrows at both end. Click that, then change the '2' to '1'. That will make the text small.

Ah, thank you, Bre, that was exactly the direction I needed. Hoo-rah smaller font *victory dance*
Boo to your mother! Make her give it back! This Weyr needs to populated, by Faranath! Knowing that my mind has been going berserk. I feel like the Wher population needs to be started, and a connection should be made with the major Hold, and I have a candidate idea for a male that needs to be developed, but I want to make a female candidate... My mind is way ahead of my fingers. I can make a few more than two because I'm a mod, right?

Oh, goodness... Phantom of the Opera... my boyfriend actually got me into that. He's, like, obsessed with Andrew Lloyd Webber. But, I agree... beautiful musical. Challenging music for both singer and instrumentalist.
Speaking of challenging music... the jazz band I'm in is playing a salute to Benny Goodman! ^^ It maketh me happy, for I play the clarinet and Benny Goodman was, like, a god among clarinetists. Still is the best there's ever been, in my opinion.
Ack! So many ideas for characters... 'tis driving me crazy. =( Stupid wide amount of choices... 'tis exhausting.
Also, Kila, if you wish to have the borders you can use the following tags: [/blockquote] [blockquote]text[/blockquote]
I generally use this for meh posts:

Thanks, Lan =^_^=
Yeah, Phantom music is beyond beautiful, but extremely difficult for the singers and musicians, I would imagine. My friend has a tattoo on his back with some of the music notes from Music of the Night in it.
Buwhahaha! Have we infected you with character ideas now? Brilliant! How's that notebook coming, Bre? I'm still agonizing over my Rider a bit.

I've got it back now - working on Fajra . I plan on immediately starting on my whiterider once I finish. However, then some real roleplaying can start. Hey, Lan, maybe training for Horizon Wing? I'm thinking of nicknaming it the "fire brigade" - a red and a copper dragon, two redheaded riders. I think they'll get along well actually though. Just gotta finish writing all this up to get it all down.
Oh Faranth, the Phantom of the Opera music. Don't get me started on Masquerade. XD I mean, the music is fun and amazing but it's hard. One good thing that can be said is that at least the cello part to it isn't insanely boring and easy like with some pieces. (I feel happy when I can join in your conversation about plays and musicals.)
Character ideas are fun! Though . . . it's going to be funny if we end up with a dozen characters and it's just us still lurking here. Oh well, Zara should get more active soon again. She's just having issues with her parents and having time on the computer. It's mainly just an issue on some sites though. *types away diligently* Must. Finish. Character. But. So. Much. To. Type. So. Little. Time.

I literally spent my whole day on this character profile, lol. It's insane and I cannot wait to reveal it. Hey Bre, how old is Fajra going to be? Also, how old was D'bor when he died?
Zut alors! Fire brigade, you say? The candidate I had in mind was going to have red hair. I don't know if we need a ginger overkill here with so few people and characters XD We really do need to lure in some new members so it's not just us...
