A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ALPHAHANDLER

”Thank you for having me in your Weyr again. And Kisk too, we had ever so much fun.”
Kire shook hands with the alphahandler of Ista Weyr and nodded her head. They would be in the Weyr for a sevenday or so, visiting her family, or the family that remained. Jerat remained with his wher, Jersk, and Kire had hoped to introduce them to Kisk. Unfortunately, her father was elsewhere now, having transferred. As Kire had never had anything much to do with her father this was news to her. Still, she remained in the Weyr for the moment, thinking to catch up with former friends and acquaintances.

Disaster struck when Thread fell. Kire joined the others but many were injured forcing Kire to take up a patrol. Only another day later and a strange illness swept through the Weyr claiming the lives of a number of people but most importantly, many whers and their handlers grew ill leaving only Kire and a couple of wherlings. It was the alphahandler who called her into the infirmary asking her to remain a while longer, until people got better, and teach the wherlings. Kire was to assume the role of head handler.

“What do we do if our whers are angry?”
“Umm…”
Kire had never had that problem before…
“Or territorial?”
“Er…”
“Well my wher won’t let me see anyone. It took him a while to even let me come to ask you for help.”
“Oh. Um… Well, you could try teaching him nice games? Games always worked for Kisk.”
At the sound of his name Kisk jumped to his feet and trotted over to Kire.

Sorry Kisk, I have a lot of work to do… Maybe Vesta will play? Or maybe one of the other whers?

The black looked sadly at the ground and then trotted from the room, leaving his stressed handler to deal with work she was hardly equipped for. In fact, she would only remain as such for a couple of days, but already things seemed to be going backwards. Things were missing, equipment was out of order and Kire was certain that one of the young whers had eaten a firelizard. That was not to mention that the candidates were fighting with the dragonriders and everything was basically going horribly. Ista would have been better off with no alphahandler.

Kire/Camea stuff. Camea and Kire have rooms near each other, and Kisk and Cask should hang out. Cask will be the fuddy-duddy and Kisk will supply the laughs. Vesta and Boltz and Myth should hang out too. It'll be a family reunion.

Tesla/Tedaon. Tesla wants to learn more about healing and would be of use since she makes sure that everything's always sterile and whatnot. Also, they can be disfunctional together. It'll be cute.

I WAS THINKING:

Irith should bother Hephaeth. It would be fun. A'lan can bother Z'is too.

I saw you have an open thread with Lirone and Agrippith and was wondering who I could throw in there, and it dawned on me... Nimara and Lirone should be friends! Agrippith and Waroth would probably butt heads, BUT THIS IS NO MATTER. They can be frenemies... or just enemies... OH WELL. Waroth does that. We'll wait and see.

HOWEVER:

These are far too many threads to have all going at once, so I was thinking maybe since there aren't a lot of threads with Lirone we could start there? Or we could have a Camea/Kire thread, because wherhandlers are awesomesauce? Or we can throw out stuff for Irith and Hephaeth because Skystalkers are cool? WHAT DO YOU THINK? =O

Of course! I've finished my next essay to be done and so I will have a bit more time on my hands especially by the end of this week! I may not be able to start but I should be able to reply to anything soonish! My wordcount is not as long as it used to be because I've found that I get replies done faster if I just try to keep it a little smaller ^^

Kisk trying to get Resk all hyped up will be a lot of fun and, of course, Z'is and Khrys is needed because they're bffls!
